I built Word Vomit after years of doing morning pages on and off, mostly badly. Every app I tried seemed to want me to organize things, tag things, or pick a template before I’d written anything.
I wanted something much simpler: a blank page, a daily target, and some small proof that I’d shown up. So I made it. The first commit was on July 29, 2026.
I’m a dad in the Pacific Northwest, a nerd, and the entire company. I use Word Vomit every morning. If you send an email, I’m the one who reads it.
What it costs
Nothing. Word Vomit is free: the writing, the archive, the stats, the export, all of it. No ads, and your data is not for sale. The bills are small and I pay them because I use this thing every morning myself.
If you want to help keep it running, there’s an optional membership and a one-time gift on the pricing page, each with a few small perks as a thank-you. Your writing stays exportable either way: Markdown or JSON, any time, from Settings.
Where your writing lives
Entries are private by default and protected in the database itself, not just in the app. The details (what’s collected, who hosts it, how deletion works) are in the privacy policy, written to be read rather than scrolled past.
